LkSG (German Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains)

1. The German LkSG – Your Rights

The German Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (LkSG) requires companies to ensure compliance with high standards for human rights and environmental protection along the entire supply chain. Apleona joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative in 2017 and supports the ten universal goals formulated here, including the protection of human rights. The UNGC is the world’s biggest and most important initiative for responsible corporate governance. In the Apleona Group, we have compiled important information for all Apleona employees and for the employees of our suppliers regarding your rights and possible courses of action for reporting violations of human rights.

Please take the opportunity here to inform yourself thoroughly about our Group Policy of Human Rights and the rules of procedure for complaints.

2. Access to the complaints procedure

We have set up a central complaints procedure to give employees of the Apleona Group and of our suppliers the opportunity to report human rights violations. You can contact us by e-mail, by mail, and via our whistleblower portal Compliance Communication.

Human rights

1. Human rights in general

„"Human rights are the fundamental rights to which all human beings are entitled. Various moral, legal, and philosophical norms are based on the premise that human rights are superior to laws or cultural traditions. This primacy of human rights has been underlined by the international community in the International Bill of Human Rights and the core human rights instruments (...)." (cf. DIN ISO 26000, page 40f).

The International Bill of Human Rights consists of the following parts:

  • Universal Declaration of Human Rights (it calls upon every individual and all organs of society to help ensure respect for human rights).
  • International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (e.g. right to life and liberty, right to equality before the law, right to freedom of expression, etc.)
  • International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (e.g., right to work, right to food, right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health, right to education, right to social security, etc.).
  • Optional protocols of the two covenants (e.g., abolition of the death penalty)
  • Seven human rights instruments (e.g., elimination of racial discrimination, elimination of discrimination against women, prevention and elimination of torture or inhuman punishment, rights of the child, participation of children in armed conflict, sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families, protection of all persons from enforced disappearance, rights of persons with disabilities

2. Human rights at Apleona

  • labor standards (minimum age, wages, working and break times, occupational safety, etc.), and
  • environmental standards (nature and environmental protection, waste management, etc.)

in the production of goods and services in Germany and Europe, but also in developing and emerging countries.

Apleona´s Compliance Management System (CMS) ensures that the group, its individual companies, bodies, their constituent members and staff conduct themselves in a manner consistent with rules and ethical norms.
