Siemens Real Estate and Apleona Agree on Service Partnership for New Siemens Campus Erlangen

  • 5-year contract on integrated FM and implementation of an office user app

Siemens Real Estate has tasked Apleona HSG Facility Management with the technical and infrastructural facility management for module 1 of the Siemens Campus in Erlangen. Overall, this involves a construction phase covering around 100,000 m² of space spread across eight office buildings plus three parking garages. It also includes space for company restaurants (around 3,000 m² in total) as well as retail space and space for external restaurants or cafés (around 3,000 m²). Module 1 is being built on a Siemens site in the south of Erlangen and is scheduled to be completed by the start of 2020. A corresponding contract for integrated facility management with a duration of five years was signed in Munich at the start of May. Commencement of service is January 1, 2020. Apleona has already been supporting Siemens since June this year as part of preparations for operation.

Besides the Comfy app developed by Siemens, another part of the agreement is that Apleona will contribute to the joint further development of mobile applications for smartphones for the up to 7,000 employees on module 1 of the campus. This will make the day-to-day work of the employees significantly more comfortable and modern compared to traditional office locations and workplace concepts as a result of a fault report function developed by Apleona, for example. In addition, further digital solutions and applications (including sensor systems) will be developed to improve the efficiency of space utilization for the Siemens Campus and to cut maintenance costs in the medium term; one way of cutting maintenance costs will be need-based cleaning, for example. Management of services on the entire campus is also supported by a BIM model, which provides the property team with quick access to structural and technical matters.

About the Siemens Campus Erlangen

Siemens AG is building the Siemens Campus Erlangen in the south of the city of Erlangen. The campus is designed to be modern and sustainable and is scheduled to be completed by 2030. In the coming years, the Siemens site in the south of Erlangen will gradually be transformed into one of the most modern Siemens locations anywhere in the world. The construction project has an anticipated investment volume of around EUR 500 million and extends across an area of 54 hectares. The Siemens Campus underlines the company’s long-term commitment to the Erlangen location and is intended as a symbol of innovation for employees as well as for the region. The planning and elaboration of the project is taking place in close cooperation with the Free State of Bavaria and the city of Erlangen.
