Apleona upgrades IT centre in Munich

Apleona has started on conversion and upgrading work at the BMW Group’s information technology centre (ITC) in Munich-North. The commissioned drywall construction, painting, flooring and carpentry work to be performed by Apleona R&M Ausbau in the 60,000-square-metre office building is intended to allow the space to be used more flexibly and thereby promote communication and teamwork. Around 2,800 IT and software specialists work at the ITC in close proximity to several of the BMW Group’s research and innovation centres and its Munich branch. The parties have agreed to not disclose the volume of the contract.

As part of the work, Apleona R&M Ausbau will dismantle the existing walls in the building’s 74 open-plan offices and install around 2,500 square metres of new plasterboard and movable multi-functional walls. Openings in the existing plasterboard walls will be used to attach another 150 glass walls. Throughout the building, the upgrading will apply a total of 27,000 square metres of wall paint, including magnetic/blackboard paint in the communication and lounge areas. With regard to office furniture, Apleona will produce cupboard enclosures and large work benches that can seat up to ten people. The upgrading work is expected to be completed by January 2019.

Apleona has been supporting the BMW Group as a framework agreement partner for more than two decades with the implementation of its workplace concepts and work environments at the Group’s locations in Munich, Dingolfing, Regensburg and Leipzig.
