Apleona appointed Integrated Facility Manager for new DFB Campus in Frankfurt

Deutsche Fußball-Bund e. V. (DFB), together with its energy contracting partner Mainova AG, has commissioned the real estate service provider Apleona with the operation and integrated facility management of the new DFB campus in Frankfurt, which is almost completed. The service agreement for one of the most state-of-the-art and largest soccer centers in the world covers all technical and infrastructure services. It has initially been signed for three years until 2025 and there is an option to renew the agreement by another two years. Standard operations have already begun and will be gradually ramped up until completion in summer 2022.

The service agreement comes after an invitation to tender and pre-qualification phase, where Apleona came out on top with the most innovative concept. The DFB campus, which features office, seminar and event space and a wide range of training facilities, will bring sport and administration together at one location, promoting more efficient work, innovation and creativity and ultimately fostering the professional nature of German football.

Apleona employs various methods to ensure that the DFB’s high quality requirements for this campus concept are met in terms of the availability and use of space, includingby using its modern, digital management and reporting tools for all real-estate processes and services, as well as by way of exclusive key account management, performing up to 90% of work in-house. The technical services take particular account of all aspects of sustainable building operations.

Apleona COO Dr. Gert W. Riegel: “As well as our high level of expertise as an integrated provider of hard services for technologically complex major buildings, management of the DFB campus also draws on our many years of experience as a manager for Deutsche Bank Park and other event properties with high quality standards, such as the Alte Oper in Frankfurt.”

About the DFB campus
The DFB campus is being built on a 15 hectare former racecourse site in Frankfurt am Main. At EUR 150 million, it is the DFB’s largest investment project to date. The building complex, which comprises various structures and has a total gross floor area of 57,000 square meters, will be home to the DFB Academy and the DFB’s central administration. All sections of the building are connected by a north-south boulevard. As well as offices, conference and training rooms, a press conference room, training and sports facilities, rooms for overnight guests, a bistro, fitness area and car park, the almost 30,000 square meter site also has several grass pitches. The campus is scheduled to be completed in summer 2022.
