Apleona provides building services engineering for Mainz research center

Apleona Wolfferts installed the building technology in the biology research center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in two construction phases from 2016 to 2020. In addition to the heating, air conditioning, ventilation and sanitation (HVAC) trades, the services also included fire protection systems and building automation (I&C). In addition, Apleona Wolfferts is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and servicing of the installed systems.

With a gross floor area of around 10,000 m2 each, the two buildings Bio I and Bio II of the research center of the University of Mainz serve as research and teaching buildings. In addition to offices and lecture halls, they mainly contain laboratory areas and climate chambers as well as animal husbandry rooms for insects, fish, frogs and reptiles.

In the Department of Biology, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz conducts research on evolution, biodiversity and anthropology, as well as neurobiology and physiology, among other topics.
