Apleona HSG: Industrial maintenance at the most modern offshore wind turbine manufacturing facility

Further expansion of partnership with Siemens – Apleona HSG will assume responsibility for maintenance of the production-related plant technology at the world’s newest and most modern production facility for offshore wind turbines. The company has now agreed on a partnership for the next three years with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. Apleona will take over these demanding tasks with the beginning of production at the new Siemens location in Cuxhaven. At the same time, the two companies will jointly develop a master plan for industrial maintenance at the new plant that will be geared toward individual production needs. The new order represents an expansion of the close cooperation that Apleona HSG has with Siemens.

In what is a tremendous responsibility for the core business of its customer, Apleona HSG will maintain the production-related plant technology. This includes machines that support the assembly and manufacturing processes. The company already executes similar tasks for other customers, including the maintenance of industrial robots in the automotive industry for example. Siemens and Apleona HSG will apply their industrial expertise and together develop a suitable maintenance strategy specifically designed for the needs of the Cuxhaven production location. Apleona HSG will mainly contribute its experience in the management and optimization of complex industrial processes.

Siemens is investing about €200 million in its first offshore wind energy production facility in Germany. Machine cabins for the 7 MW class direct drive wind turbines are manufactured here. The production facility in Cuxhaven was built directly at the harbor in a 170,000 square meter space – equal to about 24 football fields. With the help of well-equipped harbor facilities, heavy components can be directly loaded onto transport ships.
